This section provides guidance on the things you need to consider if you have progressed to the point of having found your pub and are planning how to set up the business for when you take over.

We presume at this point that you have completed all of our pre entry requirements and are progressing to take on your chosen pub.

Setting up your business is divided into three main sections and is designed to guide you through the various elements of preparation for moving into your pub.

    1.     The money you'll need
    2.     Prior preparation
                 - Legal and financial preparation
                 - Operational administration
                 - Equipment
                 - Staff
    3.     Licences and licensing

Be aware of statutory obligations

In setting up your business you should also be aware of all legal obligations imposed by Central or Local Government for example; licensing and environmental health legislation. Our Partnership Development Managers can advise you in this area.

Advice

Before entering into a legal commitment you should seek independent professional advice from a solicitor, a valuer and a building surveyor.

As discussed previously, our Partnership Development Manager will work through with you the company's business set-up guide, ensuring that essentials like VAT, taxation, pricing, stock management, licensing and cost management disciplines are fully understood.
